And his dad and Carole will come too, braving the long trip to New York in the freezing cold despite Carole’s dislike of airports and his father’s incessant complaints about city traffic, because they just want to see them and spend Christmas together as a family, and they bring presents, so many presents, all brightly wrapped and simply far too many and Dad, she doesn’t need those, she’s only four months old, and his dad will laugh and say he has to, it’s his right as a grandfather, because of course, of course, there’ll be a baby, his baby, his and Blaine’s baby, and while he runs around like a madman in a terribly gaudy Christmas apron, Blaine will march their baby up and down, showing off how pretty and smart and charming she is, carrying on his hip with practiced ease and wiping the blobs of baby drool off her chin with the bib that covers the little velvet Christmas dress that Kurt sewed for her, and when just the right song comes on the stereo, Blaine will dance with her, nuzzling his nose against hers till she giggles, and then waltz her right up to Kurt and demand that Daddy should kiss Baby, and he’ll oblige with a big kiss on her plump cheek and Blaine will sneak a kiss of his own, even though Kurt protests that Blaine, you can’t, I’m covered in flour.

And he catches his breath, his hand over his heart, and looks at Blaine, and Blaine smiles, because the same thoughts are running through his head too.
